“We have mentioned several times how important it is to us, and how grateful we are, to have a number of fantastic sponsors. So, as well as having their company logo and details on our car, we have added them to our race rig too. This is the truck that has been “built” in house by myself and the team to carry the car and equipment, as well as keep us in shelter and comfort whilst at the track.
The truck has just been repainted after the modifications, so we have a nice big available space for our team livery (coming soon) and of course to attract more sponsors. We definitely get great exposure for the team and our sponsors whilst at the track, through the website you are reading now, and even more now with the available space on the truck that can be seen at the track, as well as on the open road.
Let us know if we can help you advertise your business by contacting us.
Thanks again everyone…”
“Well, Easter weekend at Santa Pod was our first race event this year and I’m very pleased to say we were there with the same great crew as last year (thanks guys!) and also Gareth, our eldest son, enjoying a well earned break from University.
We started the weekend with a couple of problems with our Bruno/Lenco transmission. We had the parts we needed with us, but they were wrong! So a trip to Wolverhampton was required to Penn Autos – many thanks to Andy Frost for his help.
The rest of the weekend we struggled getting down the very cold and damp track, qualifying with a 8.1 at 206mph after pedalling it for over 1.5 seconds!!!
Unfortunately, the event was “rained off” thanks to the typical Great British weather so we didn’t get chance to turn a wheel in competition. We now have to wait for the Main Event in June, where I’m sure we will do well.
Apart from our little issue with the transmission, everything else was fine. Big thanks to LUCAS OIL and NGK for providing us with truly great products.
Of course during all the down time due to the weather, it gave the crew chance try out the new shirts and make friends with Callum and Libby, whose mum and dad work as medics at the track.
Thanks again to all our supporters, crew and sponsors who make all this possible……….”
Lucky Devil are once again very pleased to introduce a new sponsor – DentRepairs.co.uk. These guys work wonders with massaging metal back to how it should be.. usually those annoying dents you pick up in car parks! In the old days a lot of damage needed paintwork after it had been repaired, their methods can be a much more cost effective way of repairing your pride and joy.
THANK YOU to Dan at DentRepairs.co.uk for his support. Dan and his team were blown away with the performance figures we talked about, and I don’t think it was making sense at first!
Give the boys a try, great service and quality work.
Lucky Devil Drag Racing are very pleased to announce that NGK Spark Plugs have agreed to support us! I am sure I would struggle to use any other brand of spark plug so it is a genuine pleasure to have NGK Spark Plugs join us. I know for a fact that all the team echo this too, we have always had great results with NGK.
We also have our new 2012 Crew Shirts with NGK Spark Plugs and Lucas Oil logos on, many thanks to Joe for modelling!
Tim Howes at NGK Spark Plugs has been very helpful in arranging the support for us, so a very big thank you to Tim. Be sure to check out the NGK website at www.ngkntk.co.uk and see what they can do for you.
This great news of another fantastic sponsor gives us even more reason to look forward to the 2012 season!
“The Lucky Devil team attended the Santa Pod Racers Club dinner dance on Saturday 11th February and a great time was had by all. I think you will agree we all scrub up quite well! Usually when we are together we are a little less likely to look this good 🙂
Of course we had the ladies with us, and they all looked great, so we had to make the effort!
We were presented with our MSA British Drag Racing trophy for finishing third overall in 2011. Thanks to everyone for all the hard work and support and of course we now have to make sure we do better than 3rd place in 2012… I am sure we can.”
“We will be competing in the MSA Pro-Mod Championship this year and making our first trip abroad too, to Hockenheim for the Nitro Olympx in August.
I am very pleased to say I have the pleasure of all the same crew again this year, Dennis, Tony, Adam and Joe, and, of course, my wife Belinda. Our eldest son Gareth will be making it to a couple of meetings too all being well. He has found it difficult recently due to University and work in Newcastle.
I think we made some headway last year and KNOW we have more performance available. Having qualified well at most events and making it to our first final, I think we have a few scores to settle!
Thank you to LUCAS OIL who are returning to us this year as sponsors, a GREAT PRODUCT!! Thank you to Kerry Tate at ORIGINALS HOT ROD SUPPLY for support, and also to ALLYFAB for the help and support they give.
Of course racing isn’t cheap, so if you would like to gain exposure for your company or services in EUROPE we would be pleased to hear from you. Please contact us, WE KNOW we can be great ambassadors for you.
I personally can’t wait for the first event of 2012!”
“Well what a weekend we had at Santa Pod’s National Finals!!! It started Friday when Tony had to be taken to the hospital with quite a nasty cut to his finger… the waiting room at Bedford A&E is another story…
Back at the track, we did everything possible to qualify well, but it wasn’t to be… only one driver managed to run a six in qualifying, that driver being Roger Moore. We ended up 4th with a 7.19 at 205 mph.
Eliminations on Sunday saw us against Andy Wright in round one, what we didn’t expect was Andy hitting the wall during the burnout…. which gave us an automatic win.
Round two was to be the the race of the weekend. We were paired against Roger Moore who had to beat us and then Graham Ellis in the final (assuming he won his semi final) to be the MSA Pro Mod Champ 2011. We pulled a good light and kept in front of Roger all the way to run a 6.96 at only 175mph to Rogers 6.99!!!
Roger was gutted, as you would expect but he had other things that nearly prevented his weekend even starting… his race rig was destroyed in a motorway pile-up!!!!! Too familiar for my liking. Roger and his crew were lucky to get away without injury and the car was good too. Santa Pod did a great job getting him to the track from the recovery yard.
The final was between Graham and ourselves. We did our very best but went up in a cloud of burnt transmission fluid from our BrunoDrive transmission, although Graham had his own issues and only managed a 7.5 to win… Graham won the meeting and the championship, well done!
THANK YOU!!!! to Dennis, Adam and Tony, my crew. Belinda and Joe and of course our sponsors, Lucas Oil, AllyFab, Originals Hot Rod Supply Co. and E.D.A.… we couldn’t do it without you all.
Roll on next year… more of the same, and bit more!”
